Once a PPI™ is built for a market, it is intended for the public good and is available to all who wish to use it. Grameen Foundation’s collaboration with other key stakeholders within the microfinance industry will ensure that the PPI is available for the greatest number of MFIs that wish to better meet the needs of the poorest members of the communities they serve.

Currently, there are 45 countries with PPIs in five regions: Asia, the Americas, Middle East/North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe. More PPIs are in development. Click on each country to download its PPI documents and learn who we're working with.

Afghanistan

Bangladesh

Bangladesh PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the Upper National Poverty Line, Lower National Poverty Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1.25/Day/PPP., $1.75/Day/PPP, and $2.50/Day/PPP. It was last updated in April of 2009.

Benin

The Benin PPI is an easy-to-use, objective client poverty assessment tool. The PPI estimates the likelihood that a household has income below a national or international poverty line (download the PPI At-A-Glance for a list of poverty lines and rates for Benin).

Bolivia

Bolivia PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National Poverty Line, Food Poverty Line, 150% of National Poverty Line, 200% of National Poverty Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1.25/day 2005 PPP line, .$2.50/day 2005 PPP line, and $3.75/day 2005 PPP line. It was last updated in December of 2009. In Bolivia, Grameen Foundation PPI Partners include: FinRural, Pro Mujer Bolivia, and Fondeco.

Brazil

Brazil PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the Half-minimum-wage Line, Quarter-minimum-wage Line, One-minimum-wage Line, Two-minimum-wage Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1.25/Day/2005 PPP line, $2.50/Day/2005 PPP line, $3.75/Day/2005 PPP line, and $5.00/Day/2005 PPI Line. It was created in March 2010.

Cambodia

Cambodia estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National Poverty Line, Food Poverty Line, 125% of the National Poverty Line, 150% of the National Poverty Line, 200% of the National Poverty Line, USAID Extreme Poverty Line, USD1.25/day 2005 PPP, USD2.50/day 2005 PPP and USD3.75/day 2005 PPP. Colombia

Ecuador

Ecuador PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National Poverty Line, Food Poverty Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1.25/Day/PPP line, $2.50/Day/PPP line, $3.75/Day/PPP line, $5/Day/PPP line. It was last updated in December of 2008. Oikocredit is currently using the PPI with some of its partners in Ecuador.

Egypt

Egypt PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the Upper National Poverty Line, Lower National Poverty Line, Food Poverty Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1.25/Day/2005 PPP line, $2.50/Day/2005 PPP line, and $3.75/Day/2005 PPP line. The latest version of the PPI for Egypt was created in April 2010.

ElSalvador

El Salvador PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National Poverty line, Food Poverty Line, 150% of National, 200% of National, USAID "Extreme" Poverty line, $1.25/day 2005 PPP line, $2.50/day 2005 PPP line, and $3.75/day 2005 PPP line. The latest version of the PPI for El Salvador was created in May 2010.

Ethiopia

Ethiopia PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the $1/Day/2005 PPP, $1.25/Day/2005 PPP, $1.75/Day/2005 PPP, $2.50/Day/2005 PPP, and $2.50/Day/2005 PPP. It was last updated in April of 2009.

Ghana

Ghana PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National Poverty Line, National Food Line, 150% of the National Poverty Line, 200% of the National Poverty Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1.25/Day/2005 PPP line, $2.50/Day/2005 PPP line, and $3.75/Day/2005 PPP line. It was created in March 2010.

Guatemala

Haiti

Haiti PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the $1/Day/PPP international benchmark. It was last updated in June of 2006. Grameen Foundation has helped implement the PPI into operations at Fonkoze, an MFI in Haiti.

Honduras

Honduras PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National Poverty line, Food Poverty Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty line, $1.25/day 2005 PPP line, $2.50/day 2005 PPP line, and $3.75/day 2005 PPP line. The latest version of the PPI for Honduras was created in May 2010.

India

Mali

Mali PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National Poverty Line, National Food Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1/Day/PPP line, $2/Day/PPP line, and $3/Day/PPP line. It was last updated in August of 2008.

Mexico

Mexico PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National Food Poverty Line, National Capacity Line, National Asset Line, 125% of National Asset Line, 150% of National Asset Line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1.25/Day/2005 PPP line, and $2.50/Day/ 2005. It was revised in November 2009. Grameen Foundation has implemented the PPI with AlSol, an MFI in Chiapas.

Morocco

Morocco PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the national poverty line. It was last updated in March of 2007. Grameen-Jameel PPI Partners include: FONDEP and Fondation Zakoura.

Nepal

Nepal PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below the National poverty line, Food poverty line, USAID "Extreme" poverty line, $1.08/day 1993 PPP line, $2.16/day 1993 PPP line, $3.24/day 1993 PPP line, $1.25/day 2005 PPP line, $2.50/day 2005 PPP line, and the $3.75/day 20005 PPP line. Peru

Peru PPI estimates the likelihood that a participant has income below eight different poverty lines: National Poverty line, 150% of the National Poverty line, 200% of the National Poverty line, Food Poverty line, USAID "Extreme" Poverty Line, $1.25/Day/2005 PPP, $2.50/Day/2005 PPP, and $3.75/Day/2005 PPP. It was last updated in February of 2009. Grameen Foundation is working with Oikocredit partners in Peru to implement the PPI into their operations.

Philippines
